来源：源於鸦片，是由无水醋酸与吗啡加热反应而来，其镇痛效力为吗啡之4~8倍，毒性为吗啡１０倍。 性状：白色结晶粉末，街头流行之品种纯度不一，由浅棕色至白色；亦有混杂奶粉、糖或葡萄糖等物质。依纯度不同而以一号、二号、三号、四号、海洛因区分。通常装入小纸如包药般包装或以封口塑胶带方式流通市面。 漤用方式：口服、抽吸、鼻吸或注射。 毒害：使用初有欣快感，无法集中精神，会产生梦幻现象。过量使用造成急性中毒，症状包括昏睡、呼吸抑制、低血压、瞳孔变小。具高度心理及生理依赖性，长期使用後会产生l 急性肺水肿l 窒息、瞳孔缩如针状，一旦停药会发生渴求药物、不安、流泪、流汗、流鼻水、易怒、发抖、恶寒、打冷颤、厌食、腹泻、身体捲曲、抽筋等禁断症。一旦成瘾极难戒治。
