1. In VM/370, the mode of operation in which a virtual machine is executing without a physical line or terminal connected as an operator console. Any attempt to issue a read to the console causes the virtual machine to be logged off after 15 minutes have elapsed, unless the user logs on again within the 15 minutes interval.
